Below we inform you in a transparent manner about the operation of the so-called cookies on this website (hereinafter “Site”).
Definition of “cookie”.
Cookies are short fragments of text (letters and/or numbers) that allow the web server to store information on the client (the browser, e.g. Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Opera…) to be reused during the same visit to the site (session cookies) or later, even after several days (persistent cookies). Cookies are stored, based on the user's preferences, by the individual browser on the specific device used (computer, tablet, smartphone).
Similar technologies, such as web beacons, clear GIFs and all forms of local storage introduced with HTML5, can be used to collect information on user behavior and use of services.
A cookie cannot retrieve any other data from your hard drive or transmit computer viruses or acquire email addresses. Each cookie is unique to your web browser. Some of the functions of Cookies can be delegated to other technologies. The term 'Cookie' refers to Cookies and all similar technologies.
Based on the characteristics and use of cookies, various types of cookies can be distinguished.
Technical cookies strictly necessary. These are cookies that are essential for the correct functioning of a website and are used to manage various services related to websites (such as a login or access to reserved functions on the sites). The duration of cookies is strictly limited to the work session or they can be used for a longer period of time in order to remember the visitor's choices. Disabling strictly necessary cookies may compromise the experience of using and browsing the website.
Analysis and performance cookies. These cookies are used to collect and analyze traffic and use of a website anonymously. These cookies, even without identifying the user, allow, for example, to detect if the same user returns to connect at different times. They also allow monitoring the system and improving its performance and usability. Disabling these cookies can be done without any loss of functionality and will be discussed in detail later.
Profiling cookies. These are permanent cookies used to identify (anonymously or not) user preferences and improve their browsing experience. While browsing a site, the user may also receive cookies on their terminal that are sent from different sites or web servers (so-called "third parties"), on which some elements may reside (such as, for example, images, maps, sounds, specific links to pages of other domains).
For more information on these cookies, please visit the dedicated section on the website www.garanteprivacy.it/cookie .
Purpose of processing and purposes of technical session cookies.
The technical Cookies used on the Site have the sole purpose of performing computer authentication or monitoring sessions and storing specific technical information regarding users who access the servers of the Data Controller who manages the Site. In this perspective, some operations on the Site could not be performed without the use of Cookies, which in such cases are therefore technically necessary. By way of example, access to any reserved areas of the Site and the activities that can be carried out there would be much more complex to perform and less secure without the presence of Cookies that allow the user to be identified and maintained throughout the session.
In order to reach a correct regulation of these devices, it is necessary to distinguish them given that there are no technical characteristics that differentiate one from the other precisely on the basis of the purposes pursued by those who use them. In this direction, moreover, the legislator himself has moved, which, in implementation of the provisions contained in Directive 2009/136/EC, has brought back the obligation to acquire the prior and informed consent of users to the installation of cookies used for purposes other than merely technical ones (see art. 1, paragraph 5, letter a), of Legislative Decree 28 May 2012, n. 69, which amended art. 122 of the Code). Among other things, the same European body that brings together all the Privacy Authorities of the various Member States (the so-called "Article 29" Group) clarified in Opinion 4/2012 (WP194) entitled "Exemption from consent for the use of Cookies" that these are Cookies for which it is not necessary to acquire the prior and informed consent of the user:
- Cookies with data compiled by the user (session identifier), lasting for a session or persistent cookies limited to a few hours in some cases;
- Authentication cookies, used for authenticated services, lasting for the duration of a session;
- User-centric security cookies, used to detect authentication abuses, for a limited persistent duration;
- Session cookies for media players, such as “flash” player cookies, which last for the duration of a session;
- Session cookie for load balancing, lasting for one session;
- Persistent cookies for customizing the user interface, lasting for a session (or slightly longer);
- Cookies for sharing content via third-party social plug-ins, for members of a social network who have logged in.
For maximum transparency, a series of examples of technical Cookies and cases of specific operations on the Site are listed below:
- – Cookies implanted in the user/contractor's terminal directly (which will not be used for other purposes) such as session cookies used to "fill the cart" in online bookings on the Site, authentication cookies, cookies for multimedia content such as flash player that do not exceed the duration of the session, personalisation cookies (for example, for choosing the browsing language, recalling complete IDs and passwords by typing the first few characters, etc.);
- – Cookies used to statistically analyze accesses/visits to the site (so-called “analytics” Cookies) that pursue exclusively statistical purposes (and not also profiling or marketing) and collect information in aggregate form without the possibility of tracing the identification of the individual user. In these cases, since the current legislation requires that for analytics Cookies the interested party is provided with clear and adequate indication of the simple methods to oppose (opt-out) their installation (including any mechanisms for anonymizing the Cookies themselves), we specify that it is possible to proceed with the deactivation of analytics Cookies as follows: open your browser, select the settings menu, click on internet options, open the tab relating to privacy and choose the desired level of Cookie blocking. If you want to delete the Cookies already saved in memory, simply open the security tab and delete the history by checking the “delete Cookies” box.
Third-party cookies.
By visiting a website you may receive cookies from sites managed by other organizations (“third parties”) that may reside in Italy or abroad.
An example present in most websites is the presence of YouTube videos, Google API, use of Google Maps, and the use of "social plugins" for Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn. These are parts of the visited page generated directly by the aforementioned sites and integrated into the page of the host site. The most common use of social plugins is aimed at sharing content on social networks in order to increase the visitor's user experience.
The presence of these plugins involves the transmission of cookies to and from all sites managed by third parties. The management of information collected by "third parties" is governed by the relevant information to which you are kindly requested to refer. To ensure greater transparency and convenience, the web addresses of the various information and methods for managing cookies are reported below, specifying that the Data Controller is not responsible for the operation of third-party Cookies on this Site.
You can configure your browser to accept all cookies, reject all cookies, or notify you when a cookie has been sent. Each browser is different, so click on the “HELP” menu of your browser to understand how to change your cookie preferences. For example, in Microsoft Internet Explorer, you can disable or delete cookies by selecting “Tools/Internet Options” and changing the privacy settings or selecting “delete cookies”. Please note, however, that this site has been structured to use cookies and any uninstallation of cookies may affect the functioning of the site and does not allow the best use of the site itself.
Responsibility for the operation of third-party cookies.
In this regard, reference is made to the provisions of the General Provision of the Privacy Guarantor on Cookies of 8 May 2014: "There are many reasons why it is not possible to impose on the publisher the obligation to provide information and acquire consent to the installation of cookies on its own site, even for those installed by "third parties". First of all, the publisher should always have the tools and the economic-legal capacity to take charge of the obligations of the third parties and should therefore also be able to verify from time to time the correspondence between what is declared by the third parties and the purposes actually pursued by them with the use of cookies. This is made very difficult by the fact that the publisher often does not directly know all the third parties that install cookies through its site and, therefore, not even the logic underlying the related processing. Furthermore, it is not uncommon for the publisher and the third parties to be interposed by subjects who act as concessionaires, making it very complex for the publisher to control the activity of all the subjects involved. Third-party cookies could then be modified over time by third-party suppliers and it would be impractical to ask publishers to also keep track of these subsequent modifications.”
As indicated by the Privacy Guarantor, this Site does not have the ability to control third-party Cookies if it uses third-party services (YouTube, Google Maps, "social buttons") for which the third parties are exclusively responsible. Furthermore, the possibility for the user to delete and block the operation of Cookies at any time is recalled, also using plugins for the browser and changing the settings as indicated in the various manuals contained in the browsers.
